Ultimates #24

Ultimates #24, published in 2006, serves as the concluding chapter of the original Ultimates run written by Mark Millar. This issue marked the culmination of the 'Grand Theft America' story arc, which explored a radical, modern-day reimagining of the Avengers set within Marvel's Ultimate Universe. The series was designed to appeal to contemporary audiences by grounding iconic superheroes in a gritty, politically charged, and cinematic framework that reflected the anxieties and geopolitical tensions of the early 2000s.

The interior art for this issue was provided by Bryan Hitch, whose widescreen, photo-realistic aesthetic became the definitive look for the Ultimates line. His approach was instrumental in cementing the franchise's identity as a high-stakes action epic. Upon its release, the issue was widely discussed for its visceral resolution to the conflicts established by Millar, serving as a landmark installment in the Ultimate Marvel imprint's effort to modernize legacy characters for a new generation of readers.
