Uma Musume: Pretty Derby - Uma Musumeshi #6

Uma Musumeshi is an official culinary manga series associated with the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby franchise, which reimagines historical racehorses as anthropomorphized girls. Issue #6 serves as a continuation of this spin-off, focusing on the domestic and nutritional lives of the characters as they prepare traditional Japanese dishes or specialty meals designed to support their athletic training. The series was developed to expand the world-building of the franchise beyond track competition, grounding the characters in relatable, slice-of-life scenarios that emphasize teamwork and camaraderie.

The illustrative style for this series is tailored to maintain the vibrant, high-energy aesthetic of the original mobile game and anime, blending detailed depictions of food preparation with the character designs established by Cygames. By centering on the concept of 'Uma-meshi'—or horse-girl meals—the creative team aimed to provide fans with a more intimate look at the characters' dietary habits and personal preferences. Upon release, the series was received as a lighthearted expansion of the franchise’s multimedia ecosystem, appealing primarily to existing fans interested in the deeper personality traits of the expanded cast.
