Una aventura de Spirou por Frank Pé & Zidrou - La Luz de Borneo #1

La luz de Borneo represents a notable entry in the 'Une aventure de Spirou par...' series, an initiative by publisher Dupuis that allows acclaimed comic artists to interpret the iconic bellhop character outside of the standard continuity. Released in 2016, the project was envisioned as a cinematic and intimate tribute to the character, moving away from traditional slapstick adventures toward a more melancholy and atmospheric narrative.

The collaboration between Belgian artist Frank Pé and writer Zidrou sought to emphasize Spirou's humanity and his connection to the natural world. Frank Pé, renowned for his expressive, realistic illustrative style, designed the book to reflect a personal artistic vision, focusing on the protection of endangered species and the philosophical weight of the protagonist's celebrity. Upon its release, the work was well-received by critics who praised its lush, painted aesthetic and its departure from the high-octane pace of the main series.
