Una Aventura de Spirou por Schwartz y Yann - El Botones de Verde Caqui #1

El Botones de Verde Caqui, released in 2009, serves as a homage-driven entry in the long-running Spirou et Fantasio franchise. Created as part of the Spirou 'One-Shots' series, the project was designed to allow contemporary creators to interpret the iconic characters through their own unique aesthetic lenses. This particular volume was crafted by illustrator Olivier Schwartz and writer Yann Le Pennetier, who sought to blend the classic adventures of the 1940s with a darker, more cynical tone, specifically grounding the narrative in the turbulent atmosphere of the Nazi occupation of Belgium during World War II.

The artistic direction for this volume was heavily inspired by the ligne claire style while incorporating a gritty, noir-inflected sensibility that stands in contrast to the series' more traditional lighthearted roots. Yann’s script leans into the moral ambiguity of the era, challenging the standard heroism usually associated with the bellhop protagonist. Upon its publication, the work received significant critical attention for its daring shift in tone, being lauded by fans of European comics for its detailed period accuracy and its successful integration of historical gravity into the whimsical Spirou universe.
