Where it came from
Uncle Scrooge #128 was published by Boom! Studios in 2011 as part of their licensed run of Disney comic books. This series sought to revitalize classic Carl Barks and Don Rosa adventures for a new generation of readers while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the original Duckburg lore. The issue features classic reprints alongside contemporary editorial touches, reflecting the publisher's goal of balancing nostalgia with accessible storytelling for younger audiences.
The character design and visual tone of this issue remain rooted in the foundation established by Carl Barks, the artist famously known as the Good Duck Artist. By the time this issue was released, the visual language of Scrooge McDuck—his distinctive top hat, spats, and perpetually irascible yet adventurous demeanor—was already firmly cemented in pop culture history. The reception of the Boom! run was generally favorable among enthusiasts who appreciated the publisher's commitment to high-quality printing standards and the preservation of the expansive Disney comic archives.
