Usagi Yojimbo #90

Usagi Yojimbo #90, released in 2005 by Fantagraphics Books, is part of the long-running epic series created, written, and illustrated by Stan Sakai. The issue continues the saga of Miyamoto Usagi, a masterless samurai rabbit navigating a Japan anthropomorphically reimagined during the early Edo period. Sakai developed the series in the 1980s, drawing heavily from the history of Japanese folklore and the cinematic works of Akira Kurosawa to create a unique blend of historical adventure and poignant character study.

The aesthetic of the issue remains consistent with Sakai's signature minimalist, brush-inked style, which prioritizes clear storytelling and dynamic action sequences. Over the decades, the series has garnered significant critical acclaim for its meticulous research and consistent quality. Usagi Yojimbo #90 represents the enduring nature of the project, which has moved through several publishers while maintaining a dedicated following, consistently celebrated for its narrative depth and the expressive simplicity of its character designs.
