Valkyrie Apocalypse #10

Valkyrie Apocalypse, known in Japan as Record of Ragnarok, began serialization in Monthly Comic Zenon in 2017. The series was created by writers Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, with illustrations by the artist group Ajichika. The narrative centers on a tournament held between humanity’s greatest historical figures and powerful deities to decide the fate of mankind, an epic premise that tapped into the popular 'battle manga' trope while infusing it with diverse historical and mythological archetypes.

Issue number 10 marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict, contributing to the series' rapid ascent in popularity both in Japan and internationally. The design aesthetic is characterized by Ajichika’s intense, high-contrast action sequences and elaborate character redesigns that often emphasize exaggerated, dramatic proportions. The series received significant critical attention for its ambitious scope and eventually inspired an animated adaptation on Netflix, solidifying its position as a standout title in the modern seinen genre.
