Valkyrie Apocalypse #18

Valkyrie Apocalypse, known in Japan as Record of Ragnarok, began serialization in Monthly Comic Zenon in 2017. Created by writers Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui with illustrations by Ajichika, the series explores a grand tournament between thirteen legendary humans and thirteen gods, staged to determine the fate of humanity. The premise emerged from a desire to combine high-stakes fantasy combat with historical and mythological figures, a formula that resonated deeply with the shonen demographic and led to significant international expansion.

The 18th issue contributes to the ongoing narrative of the tournament, maintaining the series' signature dynamic character designs and dramatic, cinematic panel layouts. Ajichika's aesthetic is characterized by intense, hyper-detailed combat sequences that prioritize emotional weight and impact. Upon its release, the series continued to hold a prominent position in the seinen manga market, supported by a successful anime adaptation that introduced the franchise to a wider global audience, solidifying its status as a staple of contemporary supernatural action manga.
