Vampirella Dracula: Unholy #1

Vampirella Dracula: Unholy #1 was published in 2021 by Dynamite Entertainment as part of the broader Vampirella franchise, which originated in 1969. The miniseries was conceived to pit the iconic vampire heroine against her most traditional literary adversary, Count Dracula, in a modern narrative arc that leans into the pulp horror roots of the original Warren Publishing era while updating the character dynamics for a contemporary audience.

The series was written by Christopher Priest, known for his deconstructive approach to legacy characters, with artwork by Donny Hadiwidjaja. The design and narrative direction were intended to emphasize a complex, tense psychological rivalry between the two leads rather than mere action. It was received by readers as a notable departure from standard crossover tropes, praised for its dense, dialogue-heavy script and a stylistic aesthetic that pays homage to the gothic comic book tradition.
