Vampirella: Blood Lust #2

Vampirella: Blood Lust was a prestige-format limited series published by Harris Comics in 1997. It served as a significant stylistic departure for the character, intended to move Vampirella away from her B-movie horror roots toward a more painterly, atmospheric aesthetic. This specific issue follows the narrative arc established by writer James Robinson, who sought to deepen the character's internal mythology and emotional complexity during a period when the brand was attempting to modernize its appeal to a broader audience.

The visual language of the series is defined by the work of illustrator Joe Jusko, whose lush, fully painted panels provide a stark contrast to the traditional pen-and-ink comics of the era. Jusko was tasked with creating a mature, cinematic look that emphasized gothic romance and high-fantasy imagery. The series was generally well-received by fans of the character, particularly for its high production values and its successful synthesis of classic horror motifs with contemporary storytelling techniques.
