Werewolf by Night #18

Werewolf by Night #18 was published by Marvel Comics in 1974 during a period when the publisher was leaning heavily into supernatural and horror-themed storytelling. This issue was part of the ongoing series featuring Jack Russell, a man cursed with lycanthropy, who occupied a unique space in the Marvel Universe as both a protagonist and a monster. The story fits into the mid-seventies shift where Marvel explored mature, gothic, and occult themes within the constraints of the Comics Code Authority.

The issue features cover art by Gil Kane, an influential industry veteran whose dynamic style helped define the look of many Marvel titles during the Bronze Age. The internal creative team included writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, who were instrumental in developing the series' moody, atmospheric tone. Like many horror comics of the era, the title was received as a cult favorite, praised for its willingness to move away from traditional superhero archetypes toward character-driven supernatural drama.
