Werewolf by Night #21

Werewolf by Night number 21 was published by Marvel Comics in 1974, arriving during a period when the publisher was leaning heavily into horror and supernatural themes following the relaxation of the Comics Code Authority's restrictions on monsters. This issue, released in September, serves as a mid-run installment in a series that explored the tragic existence of Jack Russell, a man cursed with lycanthropy who frequently battled occult threats and clandestine organizations.

The issue features cover art and interior work consistent with the era's house style, highlighting the gritty, atmospheric storytelling that defined Marvel's 1970s horror line. Like much of the series, the narrative emphasizes the dark, gothic tone common to the period, with the character design and mood intended to evoke classic monster movie tropes while grounding them in the shared Marvel universe. It remains a notable example of the company's brief but influential foray into 1970s supernatural pulp comics.
