Wolverine by Claremont & Miller Deluxe Edition #1

The Wolverine by Claremont & Miller Deluxe Edition collects the seminal 1982 limited series written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Frank Miller. Originally published as four individual issues, this storyline was significant for being Wolverine's first solo outing, moving him away from his ensemble role in the X-Men to explore his internal moral struggles and his connection to Japanese culture and the Yakuza.

Frank Miller's noir-influenced aesthetic was chosen to emphasize the grittier, ronin-inspired tone of the narrative. The deluxe edition format was designed to showcase this artistic departure, highlighting Miller's cinematic layouts and the ink work of Josef Rubinstein. Upon its initial release, the series received critical acclaim for its depth and became a defining touchstone for the character, establishing the template for the anti-hero archetype that would influence comic book storytelling for decades.
