Wolverine: Evolution #1

Wolverine: Evolution #1 was published by Marvel Comics in 2006 as the debut of a six-issue miniseries. The story was written by Jeph Loeb with art by Simone Bianchi, intended to delve deep into Logan's past and explore the physiological and psychological underpinnings of his character. It emerged during a period where Marvel was increasingly focusing on high-profile, standalone narrative arcs for its most popular X-Men characters, aiming to provide definitive retellings or deep dives for a modern audience.

The visual direction led by Simone Bianchi was highly celebrated for its gritty, illustrative, and cinematic quality, which shifted away from the traditional house style of the era. Bianchi utilized a dense, textured approach to depict Wolverine's rugged environment and feral nature. Upon release, the series was well-received by fans and critics alike, specifically for the collaboration between Loeb’s pacing and Bianchi’s distinct, dark aesthetic, which helped establish a new visual benchmark for Wolverine-centric titles.
