Wonder Woman #96

Wonder Woman number 96 was published in February 1958, appearing during the late Silver Age of comic books. At this time, the series was overseen by writer Robert Kanigher and primary artist Ross Andru, who, alongside inker Mike Esposito, gave the character a distinct visual fluidity. This era of Wonder Woman was defined by a transition toward more fantastic, science-fiction-inflected adventures that moved away from the earlier wartime themes established by creator William Moulton Marston.

The cover art and interior narrative reflect the editorial mandate of the late 1950s to present Wonder Woman in high-concept, often surreal scenarios. Designed to appeal to a younger demographic, the storytelling emphasized imaginative world-building and character dynamics that would eventually lead to the more experimental 'Mod' era of the late 1960s. Like many issues of this period, it is appreciated by collectors today as a snapshot of a foundational transition point in the character's long publication history.
