Where it came from
X-Men Classic #50, released in August 1990, served as a reprint anthology series that revisited earlier adventures of the Uncanny X-Men. Published by Marvel Comics, the series was designed to introduce newer readers to the foundational storylines of the 1970s while providing supplemental content, such as new cover art and updated character sketches, to satisfy long-term fans.
This specific issue features a cover illustrated by Arthur Adams, whose intricate and energetic style became a hallmark of late 80s and early 90s Marvel aesthetics. Adams’ work on the series was highly regarded for its level of detail and character expressiveness, helping to bridge the gap between the classic narratives of the Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum era and the modern visual expectations of the time.
