X-Men: From the Ashes #1

X-Men: From the Ashes #1, released in 2024, serves as a pivotal relaunch for the X-Men franchise following the conclusion of the Krakoan Age. Editorial teams at Marvel Comics initiated this series to decentralize the X-Men across various locations, moving away from the isolated mutant nation model to re-establish the team within the broader Marvel Universe. This shift was designed to return the property to its foundational roots while accommodating a new status quo for mutant-kind.

The creative direction for this relaunch was led by writer Jed MacKay and artist Ryan Stegman. Their objective was to craft a narrative that balanced high-stakes action with the personal interpersonal dynamics that define the X-Men. The design and visual storytelling aim to signal a transition, focusing on a new base of operations and a refreshed aesthetic. Upon release, the series was positioned as a cornerstone of the 'From the Ashes' editorial initiative, intended to provide a clear entry point for new readers while addressing the aftermath of the previous multi-year storyline.
