Where it came from
X-Men Infinity Comic #12 was released as part of Marvel’s digital-first initiative on the Marvel Unlimited platform, specifically designed to leverage the vertical scrolling format. Launched in the early 2020s, this series aimed to provide readers with a mobile-optimized reading experience that broke away from the traditional print-page constraints, allowing artists to experiment with expansive, continuous layouts and pacing that feels bespoke to digital screens.
The creative direction for this series leaned into self-contained narratives that allow for deeper exploration of the expansive X-Men roster. By utilizing the vertical canvas, the illustrators and writers could create seamless transitions between panels, emphasizing the dynamic action sequences characteristic of mutant superhero teams. The series has been received as a successful bridge between classic comic storytelling and modern digital consumption habits, providing accessible entry points for new fans while maintaining the lore expected by long-term readers.
