X-O Manowar #27

X-O Manowar #27, published by Valiant Comics in 1993, belongs to the original run of the series that launched the Valiant Universe. Created by Jim Shooter and Bob Layton, the character of Aric of Dacia—a Visigoth warrior bonded to an advanced extraterrestrial armor—became a flagship title during the early nineties. The series was designed to blend historical epic tropes with science fiction, providing a distinct alternative to the dominant superhero mythologies of the era.

This specific issue is often discussed within the context of the series' mid-run transition. The artwork and narratives of this period were shaped by the editorial house style established by Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter, which emphasized tight continuity and grounded character development. As part of the initial Valiant era, the issue is noted by collectors for its role in expanding the lore of the armor's alien origin and its lasting impact on the developer-driven comic movement of the 1990s.
