X-O Manowar #28

X-O Manowar #28 was published by Valiant Comics in 1993, arriving during a peak period for the independent publisher as it established its own interconnected universe. The issue is notable for its connection to the Unity crossover event, a landmark storyline that brought together various Valiant properties to face the villainous Mothergod. This era of the series focused on Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior who had been abducted by aliens and bonded to a sentient suit of armor, blending historical themes with high-concept science fiction.

The creative direction during this period relied heavily on the house style that made Valiant a formidable competitor to the major publishers in the early nineties. The series favored dynamic, muscular artwork and character-driven narratives that emphasized the protagonist's struggle to adapt to modern life while contending with his immense power. The title was well-received by fans of the era for its consistent world-building and its commitment to a cohesive narrative architecture that spanned multiple ongoing titles.
