X-O Manowar #32

X-O Manowar issue 32, published in 1994, emerged during the high-octane era of the original Valiant Comics universe. This specific issue is a part of the 'Unity' era aftermath, a period defined by an ambitious, interconnected superhero narrative that stood apart from the editorial styles of the 'Big Two' publishers. The story follows Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior bonded to a sentient, high-tech suit of armor, placing him in a unique position of being a relic of the ancient past navigating a complex, near-future landscape.

The creative direction of this period relied heavily on the house style established by creators like Jim Shooter and Barry Windsor-Smith, focusing on grounded, character-driven science fiction despite the heightened premise. Issue 32 features work by writer Jorge Gonzalez and artist Kevin VanHook. The creative team aimed to maintain the title's momentum by balancing Aric's personal struggle with the external, high-stakes military and corporate espionage threats inherent to the Valiant setting. It was received as a solid entry in a series noted for its consistency and its commitment to a single, shared reality.
