X-O Manowar #42

X-O Manowar #42 was published in 1995 during the original Valiant Comics run. The series, which debuted in 1992, centers on Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior abducted by aliens who returns to the modern day clad in a sentient, incredibly powerful bio-mechanical suit of armor. By the time this issue was released, the title was deeply embedded in the expansive Valiant Universe, a shared continuity known for its grounded approach to superhero storytelling and intricate plot interconnections.

The issue features the creative work typical of Valiant's mid-nineties production, where the focus remained on action-oriented narratives and the evolution of the Shanhara armor. Like much of the later Valiant output before the company was acquired by Acclaim Entertainment, the book leaned into the high-stakes, sci-fi military tone that defined the character. It remains a notable entry for collectors tracking the transition of the Valiant line during a period of significant corporate and editorial shift in the comic book industry.
