X-O Manowar #43

X-O Manowar #43 was published in 1995 as part of the original Valiant Comics run. Created by writer Jorge Gonzalez and artist Sean Chen, this issue serves as a late-stage entry in the saga of Aric of Dacia, a Visigoth warrior abducted by aliens who bonds with a sentient suit of power armor. This era of the series occurred during a transitional period for Valiant as the company navigated shifts in editorial direction and market trends following the superhero boom of the early nineties.

The art style of this issue reflects the polished, cinematic aesthetic common to the Valiant house style of the mid-nineties, emphasizing dynamic action and the fusion of ancient weaponry with futuristic technology. Sean Chen’s work on the title was well-regarded for its consistency and readability, helping to maintain the character's status as a cornerstone of the Valiant Universe. While the series eventually saw multiple reboots, the original run remains a significant touchstone for collectors interested in the unique continuity established during the formative years of the independent comic book movement.
