Where it came from
Yamada to Kase-san. #3 represents a key volume in the long-running yuri manga series authored and illustrated by Hiromi Takashima. First serialized in Shinshokan's Hirari magazine before moving to the Web Magazine Wings platform, the series explores the delicate romantic progression between the earnest, gardener-loving Yui Yamada and the athletic, popular Tomoka Kase. This volume continues the trend of Takashima’s minimalist yet emotive art style, which emphasizes subtle facial expressions and soft-focus backgrounds to convey the intimacy of the protagonists' relationship.
The series emerged during a period of increased visibility for shoujo-ai and yuri narratives in the mid-2010s, gaining a dedicated international following for its grounded, non-sensationalized approach to high school romance. Volume 3 was received warmly by readers who appreciated its shift toward more complex emotional beats as the characters navigate the pressures of graduation and changing life paths. It remains a hallmark of the slice-of-life genre, praised for its sincerity and the clean, approachable character designs that became synonymous with the franchise's identity.
