Yameru Hoshi Yori Ai wo Komete #4

Yameru Hoshi Yori Ai wo Komete, translated as With Love from the Ailing Star, is a manga series created by the artist Reiko Shimizu. The series emerged during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period when Shimizu was establishing her reputation within the shojo manga landscape for her distinctively elegant linework and her focus on science fiction themes and psychological depth. This fourth issue serves as a chapter installment within the larger narrative, reflecting the artist's early experiments with speculative fiction and human existentialism.

The aesthetic of the series is characterized by Shimizu’s fine, ethereal illustration style, which contrasts with the gritty or melancholic nature of the storytelling. As a component of the broader series, this issue contributes to the unfolding of a narrative often noted for its departure from traditional romantic tropes common to the genre at the time. It was received as a sophisticated addition to the SF manga movement, highlighting the author's growing capability to blend complex emotional arcs with cosmic settings.
