Yosemite Sam #52

Yosemite Sam number 52 was published by Gold Key Comics during the mid-1970s, a period when the imprint held the license to translate various Looney Tunes shorts into the comic book medium. These issues were intended to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the character, who had been a staple of theatrical animation since his 1945 debut, by repackaging classic slapstick dynamics into episodic print adventures.

The creative direction for these issues generally leaned on a stable of house artists and writers tasked with maintaining the established visual language of the Warner Bros. cartoons. While individual credits for this specific issue are often obscured by the common practice of anonymous production in mass-market children's comics of the era, the design focused on translating Sam's frantic energy and aggressive, pistol-packing persona into static panels, a challenge that required emphasizing exaggerated expressions and dynamic motion lines.
