Yosemite Sam #66

Yosemite Sam #66 was published by Gold Key Comics during the 1970s, a period when the publisher held the license to adapt various classic Looney Tunes characters into standalone monthly titles. These comics were intended for a younger demographic, offering brief, humorous vignettes that translated the chaotic energy of the animated shorts into a serialized print format. The stories focused on Sam's perpetual, ill-fated attempts to outsmart Bugs Bunny or strike it rich in the American West.

The visual identity of this era of Gold Key titles relied on an house style that favored clear, accessible layouts over the more experimental artistic direction found in other medium segments of the time. The illustrations and character models were strictly governed by the official Warner Bros. animation style guides to ensure consistency across the brand. While these issues were primarily viewed as disposable entertainment for children upon their release, they have since been cataloged by animation historians as a testament to the mid-century cross-media reach of theatrical cartoon icons.
