The title translates roughly to 'The Hell of Flower Shadows in Yoshichō,' referring to a district known for its pleasure quarters. These works were designed to cater to the contemporary appetite for sophisticated, often voyeuristic depictions of urban nightlife, utilizing the refined ukiyo-e aesthetic to explore themes of desire and the floating world.
