Young King OURs #389

Young King OURs is a long-running Japanese seinen manga anthology published by Shonen Gahosha. First debuting in the 1990s, the magazine carved out a distinct niche by prioritizing unconventional storytelling, dark fantasy, and complex character-driven narratives that often pushed the boundaries of standard demographic expectations for seinen titles. The magazine is perhaps best known for providing a home to cult classics and critically acclaimed works like Hellsing and Trigun, fostering a reputation for editorial risk-taking.

The physical design of the magazine emphasizes a dense, utilitarian aesthetic characteristic of Japanese manga weeklies and monthlies, where the priority is placed on the sheer volume of serialized content. Issue #389 maintains the tradition of high-contrast, graphic-heavy cover art meant to arrest the attention of commuters at newsstands. By the time this specific issue was released, the publication had solidified its identity as a platform for artists who prefer a moody, avant-garde, or hyper-violent visual style, cementing its status as a staple for readers seeking alternatives to mainstream shonen serials.
