Where it came from
The Codex of Bloodrot, identified as card OUT159, is a Marvel-rarity action card featured in the 2023 Flesh and Blood set titled Outsiders. This set was designed to explore the criminal underworld of the city of Pits, focusing on the classes of Assassin, Ninja, and Ranger. The Marvel rarity tier serves as a highly sought-after, visually distinct collectible variant that departs from standard card aesthetics to provide a premium experience for players and investors alike.
The card was developed by the Legend Story Studios design team to mechanically support the Bloodrot ailment, a signature debuff within the game's engine that forces players to discard cards. The design philosophy of the Outsiders set prioritized thematic cohesion, emphasizing high-stakes tension and brutal combat. The artwork and aesthetic execution reflect the dark, gritty fantasy atmosphere that has defined the game since its debut, receiving positive recognition from the community for its intricate, foil-etched visual style.
