Provenance

Where it came from

The Release the Tension card was issued as a promotional item within the Local Game Store series, a program designed to support independent hobby retailers by providing exclusive game components. It emerged during a period of community-driven expansion, where developers sought to bridge the gap between digital play and physical, in-person social interaction by incentivizing visits to brick-and-mortar storefronts.

The card features artwork commissioned to reflect the game's core theme of strategic cooling-off periods, utilizing a minimalist aesthetic intended to distinguish it from standard set releases. While the card is functionally treated as a standard action, its inclusion in the promo set made it a target for completionists, with its reception primarily defined by its utility in competitive play rather than its scarcity or visual flair.
