Where it came from
The Sledge of Anvilheim was introduced as a rare weapon card in the Silver Age Chapter 1 expansion, specifically within the Bravo, Flattering Showman release. This set was designed to emphasize the tactical utility of equipment cards, focusing on themes of high-fantasy craftsmanship and industrial might consistent with the Anvilheim aesthetic. The design team focused on creating a visual language that balanced the heavy, utilitarian nature of a smithing tool with the ornate, magical embellishments characteristic of the Silver Age series.
The artwork for the SBR002 card was commissioned to evoke a sense of immense physical weight, utilizing deep contrast and metallic textures to distinguish it from standard-tier equipment. Upon release, the card was well-received by the competitive community for its unique synergy with defensive-build archetypes, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of the Chapter 1 meta. Its reputation persists as a hallmark of the set's commitment to flavorful and mechanically distinct weaponry.
