Spectral Shield

The Spectral Shield was introduced in the Monarch set for the Flesh and Blood trading card game, released by Legend Story Studios in 2021. As a token card, it was not intended to be found in booster packs as part of a primary collection, but rather generated during gameplay by specific hero abilities, most notably those of the character Levia. The card serves as a vital mechanical component within the Monarch environment, representing the dark, gothic aesthetic central to the set's thematic exploration of light and shadow in the realm of Rathe.

The design of the Spectral Shield reflects the creative direction of the Legend Story Studios art team, who prioritized a distinct, high-fantasy visual identity for the game's expansion. The token features a stylized, ephemeral barrier illustration intended to convey both defensive utility and the specific eldritch flavor associated with the Shadow talent. Upon its release, the card was widely received by the community as a functional necessity for competitive play, praised for its clarity of design and the way its artwork integrated seamlessly into the darker, more visceral art style that defined the Monarch expansion.
