Where it came from
The Amphibian Man Funko Pop, numbered 637 within the Pop! Movies series, was released to celebrate Guillermo del Toro's 2017 romantic fantasy film, The Shape of Water. The figure depicts the central creature—a humanoid amphibian captured from the Amazon—capturing his elegant yet eerie aesthetic. It was designed to reflect the film's gothic atmosphere and the character's distinct scales and anatomical features, serving as a tangible tribute to the Academy Award-winning movie.
Funko’s design team leaned into the character’s unique color palette and physical texture, emphasizing the gills and webbed details that define the creature's appearance. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the film and collectors of creature-feature memorabilia alike, noted for translating the film's sophisticated creature design into the signature stylized proportions of the Pop! vinyl line.
