Where it came from
The Baby Nut figure was introduced in 2020 as part of the Funko Pop! Ad Icons series, designated as number 108. It commemorates the marketing campaign launched by Planters during Super Bowl LIV, which featured the 'rebirth' of the long-standing mascot, Mr. Peanut, as an infant. This campaign was a significant departure from the brand's traditional imagery, designed to capture viral attention through a surrealist and unexpected narrative arc.
The design of the figure translates the character’s CGI-rendered appearance from the television commercials into the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head, stylized eyes, and signature top hat associated with the refreshed mascot. While the overarching campaign drew mixed reactions from the public due to its unconventional nature, the figure remains a notable entry in the Ad Icons line, serving as a snapshot of a specific moment in contemporary corporate branding and mascot evolution.
