Batgirl (Metallic)

The Metallic Batgirl Pop figure, numbered 3 in the Funko Pop! Heroes line, was released as a variant of the original Batgirl figure. It emerged during the early years of the Pop! vinyl craze, a period characterized by the brand's rapid expansion into licensing major comic book franchises. This metallic finish was introduced as a Chase variant, a hallmark of Funko's strategy to engage collectors by offering subtle material differences on existing molds to encourage discovery and market secondary value.

The design draws from the classic Barbara Gordon Batgirl aesthetic, featuring the iconic purple and yellow color palette. While the base mold reflects the simplified, oversized-head silhouette standardized by Funko, the metallic paint application was intended to give the figure a premium, display-focused sheen. At the time of its release, the figure was received as a sought-after collectible within the nascent community of Funko enthusiasts, solidifying its place as an early example of the brand’s commitment to variant-based scarcity.
