Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2010 as a limited convention exclusive for the New York Comic Con, this Batman figure holds a significant place in pop culture history as the inaugural release of the Funko Pop! Heroes line. It was designed to celebrate the character's legacy while launching what would become a global phenomenon in vinyl collectibles, featuring the distinct oversized head and minimalist aesthetic that defines the series.

The figure was produced in a limited run of 2,000 pieces, marking an early milestone for Funko's transition into the hobbyist market. The design captures a classic comic-book iteration of Batman, leaning into a bold, simplified silhouette that prioritized recognizability. While initially intended as a regional convention souvenir, the figure's scarcity and status as 'Pop Number 1' have since made it one of the most sought-after items in the franchise.
