Where it came from
The Batman Who Laughs was introduced in the 2017 DC Comics crossover event Dark Nights: Metal, written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Greg Capullo. The character represents a nightmarish fusion of Batman and his arch-nemesis, the Joker, emerging from the Dark Multiverse. Designed as the primary antagonist for the event, he quickly became a fan-favorite figure for his chilling aesthetic and role as the leader of the Dark Knights.
Funko released this Pop! figure as number 256 in the DC Super Heroes line to capture the character's signature look, including his iconic spiked metal visor and tattered, jagged cape. The design focuses on translating Capullo's intense, horror-inspired artwork into the stylized vinyl format. Upon its release, it became a highly sought-after piece among collectors of DC merchandise, reflecting the character's rapid ascent to becoming a staple villain in the modern Batman mythos.
