Where it came from
The Big Daddy Pop! figure was released as part of the initial wave of the BioShock series in the Pop! Games line. Created to celebrate the 2007 video game, this figure depicts a Subject Delta-style Big Daddy, an iconic, hulking protector of Little Sisters within the crumbling underwater metropolis of Rapture. The design captures the character's signature pressurized diving suit, complete with the prominent brass-rimmed helmet and the industrial drill attachment, reflecting the game's distinctive Art Deco-influenced steampunk aesthetic.
Funko’s design team leaned heavily into the contrasting proportions characteristic of the Pop! vinyl style to soften the Big Daddy's imposing, terrifying nature while maintaining his recognizable silhouette. The figure was produced to appeal to both casual toy collectors and dedicated fans of the Irrational Games franchise, focusing on recognizable textures and mechanical details. Upon its release, it was well-received for its level of detail relative to the stylized format, quickly becoming a centerpiece for collections themed around survival horror and narrative-driven gaming.
