Where it came from
Bishop, appearing as number 1280 in the Pop! Marvel series, was released by Funko to coincide with the 2024 debut of the Disney+ animated series X-Men '97. The figure is designed to reflect Bishop's updated aesthetic in the show, which serves as a direct stylistic and narrative continuation of the 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series. This iteration of the character emphasizes his role as a time-traveling mutant and his signature ability to absorb and redirect kinetic energy.
The design of the figure leans into the bold, cel-shaded color palette and distinct animation style of the X-Men '97 production. Funko's design team prioritized capturing his classic high-collar tactical gear and glowing energy effect, maintaining the proportions consistent with the broader Pop! Marvel line. Upon release, the figure was received as a nostalgic piece for long-time X-Men fans, serving as a commemorative collectible for the revival of the iconic mutant team on screen.
