Where it came from
Blanche Devereaux, as portrayed by Rue McClanahan in the sitcom The Golden Girls, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! vinyl figure in 2020 as part of the Pop! Television series. This specific edition depicts Blanche in her bowling attire, an outfit reflective of the show's penchant for comedic subplots involving the characters' social outings in 1980s Miami. The figure was released as part of a broader expansion of the Golden Girls collection to celebrate the enduring cultural legacy of the series.
Funko’s design team emphasized the character’s personality by including a bowling ball accessory and her signature 1980s-inspired vibrant styling. By maintaining the iconic Funko aesthetic—oversized head, simplified facial features, and a square-set posture—the design aimed to evoke nostalgia for the show’s original run. The figure was well-received by fans of the series, serving as a collectible tribute to the show’s enduring popularity and the distinct fashion trends of its era.
