Where it came from
Bluto, portrayed by John Belushi in the 1978 comedy classic Animal House, was immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure under the Movies line, numbered 914. The figure captures his iconic look from the Delta Tau Chi toga party, complete with the 'College' sweatshirt that has become a staple of American cinematic iconography. It was released to celebrate the enduring legacy of the National Lampoon film, which helped define the raucous college-comedy genre for generations.
The design choice focuses on the character's signature scowl and disheveled appearance, attempting to replicate the anarchic energy that John Belushi brought to the role. Funko aimed to translate his performance into their stylized, minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing his recognizable silhouette. Since its debut, it has been embraced by fans of classic cinema and pop culture memorabilia who seek to pay homage to a pivotal moment in film history.
