Where it came from
The Bobby Boucher Pop! figure, designated as number 872 in the Pop! Movies line, was released to commemorate the 1998 cult classic film The Waterboy. The figure depicts the protagonist, played by Adam Sandler, dressed in his iconic South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs football jersey. This release aligns with Funko's strategy of revisiting iconic 1990s comedic cinema to engage fans of nostalgic pop culture.
The design of the figure captures Boucher’s earnest expression and his signature uniform, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of the Funko brand which emphasizes exaggerated proportions and simplified features. While the film received mixed critical reviews upon its initial release, it became a massive commercial success and a staple of Sandler’s filmography. The collectible was received warmly by fans of the movie, serving as a physical tribute to one of the most recognizable characters in late-nineties comedy.
