Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line, figure number 228 features the titular protagonist of the acclaimed Netflix adult animated series BoJack Horseman. Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the show premiered in 2014 and gained a reputation for its poignant exploration of depression, addiction, and the vapidity of celebrity culture. The figure was produced to capitalize on the show's cult status and unique visual style, which contrasts anthropomorphic animal characters with a cynical, grounded Hollywood setting.
The design of this collectible adheres to the standard Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head, bead-like eyes, and minimalist body structure that define the brand. By stripping away the show's complex satirical depth into a static vinyl form, the designers aimed to capture the character's most recognizable visual elements, such as his signature blue sweater and blazer. Upon its release, it became a sought-after piece for fans looking to represent the show's dark humor on their shelves, serving as a tangible connection to the character's journey through fame and self-destruction.
