Where it came from
The Boomerang Pop! figure, numbered 101 within the Pop! Heroes series, was released by Funko to coincide with the 2016 theatrical debut of the DC film Suicide Squad. It depicts the character Captain Boomerang, a long-standing member of the franchise’s titular task force known for his penchant for lethal, bladed projectiles. The figure captures the character's cinematic aesthetic, complete with his signature weathered leather jacket, knit cap, and the iconic Australian-themed scarf that defines his modern look.
As part of the expansive DC Comics-inspired lineup, this figure reflects Funko's signature stylized design language, characterized by large, solid black eyes and a boxy, simplified head shape. The design team aimed to balance the character's gritty, anti-hero persona with the playful, collectible aesthetic that had become a hallmark of the Pop! brand by the mid-2010s. Upon release, the figure was widely distributed through major retailers, serving as a staple of the Suicide Squad merchandise wave that accompanied the film's significant marketing push.
