Where it came from
Brian Griffin, the anthropomorphic dog from the long-running animated sitcom Family Guy, was introduced as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line in 2013. Designed to capture the character's signature martini-sipping, intellectual persona, the figure features his classic red collar and minimalist aesthetic typical of the series' early animation style. The release coincided with the broader push by Funko to expand its licensing portfolio into adult-oriented animated television, capitalizing on the show's massive cult following.
The figure was created under the direction of Funko's design team, who aimed to translate Seth MacFarlane's clean, vector-based animation style into a 3.75-inch vinyl format. By focusing on the character's distinct facial expression and posture, the designers intended to evoke the familiar personality of the show's resident writer. Upon release, it was received as a staple piece for fans of the franchise, serving as a foundational entry in the Animation subset alongside other major characters from the Griffin family.
