Where it came from
Captain Boomerang, numbered 1117 in the Funko Pop Heroes line, was released to coincide with the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. This figure depicts the character George 'Digger' Harkness, a long-standing antagonist in the DC Comics universe who is defined by his Australian heritage and signature bladed projectiles. The design team at Funko aimed to capture the gritty, modern aesthetic of the film's portrayal, emphasizing the character's utilitarian tactical gear and rugged appearance.
The figure is part of a broader collection celebrating the James Gunn-directed film, which sought to revitalize the Suicide Squad franchise with a dark comedic tone. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the DC Extended Universe, who appreciated the attention to detail in the character's iconic scarf and weaponry. It remains a staple for collectors focused on villain-centric iterations of the DC mythos.
