Provenance

Where it came from

The Charmander Pop! figure, designated number 455 within the Pop! Games series, was released to celebrate the iconic status of the fire-type starter from the Pokémon franchise. This specific variation was created as an exclusive for Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), utilizing a flocked finish—a textured, velvet-like coating—to distinguish it from the standard vinyl production. The design choice to use flocking was intended to provide a tactile, soft representation of the character's appearance, appealing to collectors who value unique material finishes on mass-market vinyl figures.

The figure reflects the broader design language established by Funko for its Pokémon line, which prioritizes a simplified, stylized aesthetic that remains faithful to the original character design. As a convention exclusive, it was released within the context of the highly competitive market for limited-edition pop culture collectibles. Its reception was consistent with the brand's established popularity, quickly becoming a sought-after piece for completionist collectors of both the Pokémon franchise and the broader Pop! Games catalog.
