Where it came from
Released in 2017 as part of the Funko Pop! Star Wars collection, this figure depicts Chewbacca as he appeared in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'. The 'flocked' designation indicates that the vinyl surface is covered in a fuzzy, velvet-like texture intended to mimic the character's fur, a design choice frequently used by Funko to add a tactile quality to animalistic or creature-based characters.
The figure was produced during a period of significant expansion for the Pop! brand, where Funko leaned heavily into specialized finishes like flocking to differentiate standard releases from mass-market variants. As part of the wider merchandising campaign for the eighth episode of the Skywalker saga, the design team aimed to capture a more detailed, textured look for the iconic Wookiee compared to the standard, smooth-molded releases in the numbered 195 series.
