Where it came from
Darth Nihilus was released by Funko in 2021 as part of the Star Wars Pop! line, specifically commemorating the legacy of the 2003 role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords. As a central antagonist known as the Lord of Hunger, the character is defined by his haunting, faceless mask and tattered robes, which reflect his nature as a void in the Force. The figure serves as a tangible connection to the Expanded Universe, now officially rebranded as Star Wars Legends, which remains highly regarded by fans for its mature storytelling and dark aesthetic.
The design of this Pop! figure focuses on capturing the character's eerie, minimalist appearance, emphasizing the metallic texture of his mask and the flowing, necrotic drape of his Sith armor. By rendering a complex, abstract character in the simplified, oversized-head style characteristic of Funko, the designers aimed to maintain the menacing silhouette that made Nihilus an iconic figure in video game history. Upon its release, the figure was warmly received by collectors who appreciated the commitment to deep-cut characters from the older Star Wars gaming catalog.
